Community, Economic or Organizational Development

With our strategic mix of qualifications and a wide variety of experience, we have worked on many types of projects over the years.  Our clients find that we quickly grasp the issues and the critical forces that affect their project.  We love a challenge, and invite you to contact us with yours.

Our special niche is working at a smaller scale:

   •    small cities and towns, townships, or one neighbourhood in a city
   •    organizations with decentralized service delivery in a rural region
   •    non-profit organizations with small staffs and an active Board
   •    family-owned businesses and farms
   •    coalitions or networks of the above.

Community Development

David Sherwood was involved in the creation of the Canadian Healthy Communities Network in 1988.  Since then, he has taken a holistic view of communities, recognizing that “everything is connected to everything” and “the whole is more than the sum of its parts”.  We are good at multi-sectoral collaborations which integrate social, economic and environmental goals.  Our aim is to build or strengthen the inherent capacity of the organization or community to continue the work when our assignment is over.

Economic Development

What we do best are the business strategy and stakeholder involvement components of economic development projects.  We generally team with other consultants for the “number crunching” analytical component.  Our preferred partner for rural and agricultural development studies is a nearby firm, Sol-Air Consultants Inc.

Organizational Development

David Sherwood has been an Executive Director, as well as President, Treasurer or Secretary of various Boards of Directors.  For many years, he was a professional member of the Canadian Society of Association Executives.   We have co-created several non-profit organizations, right from scratch.  Based on this expertise and experience, some of our projects involve organizational development issues like governance, board-staff relations, the reorganization of service delivery or conflict resolution.  We can also act as mentors or provide Coaching to Executive Directors.
